Strengthening & Popularising Theatre
Theatre
as per Bharat Muni's Natya shastra is a complete art form, which
imbibes dance, drama, music, architecture and visual art. It has
played a major role to build a creative atmosphere in the society
and personality development for the people at large. It is proved
that theatre has played a significant role in the world history.
Because of this, we may find a long tradition of sanskrit/folk
theatre in our country. In each state, we have 2-3 traditional
theatre forms.
The centre has taken up a mission to revive and promote theatre
movement among people by providing facilities to amateur theatre
groups, talented artists, directors etc. to stage their shows. The
deep-rooted tradition of theatre needs to be highlighted to the
present generation. There is also a need to encourage new
innovations and experimentations made by the established theatricans
in their plays from time to time. Such new techniques developed need
to be shared and disseminated among the upcoming artists, drama
students and thearicians through experimental theatre festivals.
There is also a need to impart intensive training/production
oriented training to students of theatre on various aspects like
acting, body movement, voice modulation, direction, stage prop,
costume, set and light designing etc.
The
centre organises following activities as a part of Theatre
rejuvenation scheme :
1. Theatre
Festival
2. Trad
ional Theatre Festival
3. Experimental
Theatre Festival
4. Intensive
