Lokotsav Goa

Lokotsav — a national level arts & crafts fair – was organised at Campal, Panaji, Goa from 11th to 20th January’19 in collaboration with Directorate of Art and Culture, Govt. of Goa and Kala Academy, Goa. The festival was inaugurated by Shri Govind Gaude, Hon’ble Minister for Art & Culture, Goa and attended by Shri Daulat Hawaldar, Secretary, Art & Culture, Goa.
A ‘contingent of 202 performing artists and 150 craftspersons from all over the country participated in this festival. In, performing arts, Lok Sangeet (Mangniars), Bhawai, Puppeteers, Bahurupia from Rajasthan; Powada, Bahurupia from ‘Maharashtra; Sidhi Dhamal, Mewasi, Bahurupia from Gujarat, besides a contingent 702 folk artists & musicians of Goa viz. Dekhni, Mando, Kunbi, Samai, etc. participated. In addition to this, Bihu from Assam; Pung Dhol Cholam from Manipur; Gotipua from Odisha; Ghoomar Fag from Haryana; Purulia Chau dance from W.B.; Sangria Mog from Tripura; Boya dance from Arunachal Pradesh; Jabro & Mask dance from Leh; Bhangda from Punjab participated in the Folk Festival under NCEP. Handicrafts/handlooms worth Rs.150 lakhs were sold at the fair and more than ‘visited the Folk Festival. The festival was highly appreciated a„. – • public and media.
